Blanche Boyce is an Acupressure Therapist, a Master of Medical Qi Gong, a Qi Gong & Tai Chi Teacher and a Champissage Therapist.
Attaining a degree in philosophy in the 1970s, I have long held an interest in metaphysics and mysticism although it wasn't until the early 2000's that I was guided to study the Eastern practices of Acupressure and Qi Gong. I have since been integrating Acupressure and Medical Qi Gong to work with clients who recognize the profound benefits of this type of work. Like other branches of Chinese Medicine, Acupressure and Medical Qi Gong work on the meridian system - strengthening, clearing and balancing the flow of Qi in the body, the mind and the spirit. When this flow is optimal one is healthy, happy and productive.
I have attained a 3rd Degree Black Belt in the Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do and still continue to practice at Master Gee's Black Belt Academy in Burnaby. On the softer side of Martial Arts, I am a Tai Chi enthusiast practicing many forms including Staff and Sword Tai Chi Forms. In the Fall of 2015 I started teaching Tai Chi at Master Gee's Black Belt Academy, in January of 2016 I began teaching both Beginner and Intermediate Tai Chi at Mollie Nye House in North Vancouver. I bring aspects and knowledge from all of these disciplines into the Qi Gong movement and Tai Chi classes that I teach.
I am a Past President of the B.C. Acupressure Therapists' Association (BCATA) and was co-editor the BCATA's quarterly newsletter - The Pressure Release for a number of years.
More recently, I have been delving into Ayurveda (East Indian) Medicine and studying a massage modality called Champissage. This is a seated massage that is done over the clothes and focuses on the upper back and arms, the shoulders, neck, scalp, head and face. Like Acupressure and Medical Qi Gong Therapy it is extremely relaxing and deeply healing.
In July of 2013 I began volunteering at the North Shore Women's Centre. Once a month I donate an afternoon to give the women Acupressure and / or Medical Qi Gong Therapy sessions. Generally the women who come to the Women's Centre are in transitional times in their lives and are under a great deal of stress. The Acupressure and Qi Gong work that I do is extremely relaxing and nurturing; it gives the clients the opportunity to release some emotional stress and to look at their lives and situations from a more balanced and grounded perspective - a much better vantage point from which to make difficult decisions. I'm very grateful that the North Shore Women's Centre provides the services that I offer along with those of the other therapists.
In 2018 I decided to further my education in Medical Qi Gong and applied to take the Doctorate Program in Medical Qi Gong / Chinese Shamanism. While the program curriculum is centered around Oncology the teachers bring in a wealth of knowledge that applies to all areas of health. I'm currently using a number of these techniques in my private practice.
I work out of my home studio in North Vancouver and teach Tai Chi and Qi Gong in both North Vancouver and online.
