MEDICAL QI GONG THERAPY
In addition to practicing Medical Qi Gong as a movement form of exercise one can also go to a Medical Qi Gong Therapist. He or she will work with clients individually to help them cultivate and regulate their qi flow. This is done while the client relaxes, fully clothed, on a massage table. The Medical Qi Gong Therapist may also suggest specific Qi Gong exercises to support the client’s health. Like Acupressure Therapy, Medical Qi Gong Therapy works on multiple levels - physical, emotional, and spiritual - its goal is to bring the body back to homeostasis, i.e. a place of natural balance where the body can begin to heal itself. As Hippocrates said "The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well." The Medical Qi Gong Therapist can help to activate this force to bring about health and longevity.
A Medical Qi Gong Therapist works both on the client's body - on the acupoints and the meridians - and also off the body on what Chinese Medicine refers to as the Wei (pronounced 'way') Qi Fields. Clients often fall into a deep state of relaxation, they may experience tingling or jerking in their extremities, feel waves of contentment, remember images from their childhood, or they may notice nothing, simply enjoying the experience.
Medical Qi Gong Therapy can be a wonderful adjunct to Western Medicine. In China Medical Qi Gong Doctors work
alongside Western Doctors and Doctors of Chinese Medicine.
